An example of the test procedure

The following is information pertaining to Tri-force BJJ Academy’s technique examination.
 

Examination type: -

Tri-force has three types of exam available. The subject of basic examination will be the same as the online version ver.2 or later. The exam can be taken in one of two ways, either directly, live at an academy or via movie, submitting the video URL for assessment.



Basic 1st grade exam

Eligibility: -

The person who has attained Basic 2nd grade exam and/or a Tri-force member at blue belt level or higher.


Examination contents: -

You will be asked to demonstrate 6 lessons from the basice curriculum.

Tri-force will notify the candidate of the lessons to be demonstrated one week before exam date.

 

Basic 2nd grade exam

Eligibility: -
Open to anybody

Examination contents: -
The candidate will demonstrate 30 techniques from the basic curriculum

Advanced exam


Eligibility: -

The person who passed the Basic 1st grade exam, and/or a Tri-force member at purple belt or higher.

 

Examination contents: -

You will be asked to demonstrate 6 lessons from the advanced curriculum.

Tri-force will notify the candidate of the lessons to be demonstrated one week before exam date.


Benefits to successful applicants: -

Accreditation (patch) showing successful completion of the exam along with publication of candidate's name on the Qualified list(website).

Those passing the Basic 2nd grade exam will be considered to have the technical skill to acquire a Tri-force Blue belt

Those passing the Basic 1st grade exam will be considered to have the technical skill to acquire a Tri-force Purple belt
Those passing the Advanced exam will be considered to have the technical skill to acquire a Tri-force Brown belt

 

Live test available times: -

Monday, Tuesday & Thursday: 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm & 6pm

Wednesday: 1pm, 2pm & 3pm

Friday: 1pm, 2pm, 3pm & 4pm

Saturday: 10am & 4pm

Sunday: 3pm

Video test method: -

From using a space in your home, or public gym or the academy's free time, conduct your examination and then upload the completed video to a server used by yourself, such as YouTube (or similar host) and send the URL link to Tri-force. Please ensure that the video is no longer than 40 minutes and that it is not edited in any way.
 

Application method: -

Those applicants wishing to take the examination should first apply by email using the following email address: info@triforce-bjj.com, using the subject “Technique exam”. In the body of the mail please enter the following information. For Tri-force members, please ensure that you obtain the approval of your branch's head instructor fefore you proceed.

    • (1). If you’re intending to conduct a live test, please tell us a few dates / times. We will reply by return confirming which.

    • (2). Those who undertake the basic 1st grade, advanced or master exam via video, the date will be the date of submission. Please specify a date which runs from two weeks ahead of the request date.


Examination fee: -

6,000 yen (tax included)

  • For candidates conducting a live test, please pay on the day.

  • For candidates conducting a video test, Tri-force will send you a request for credit card payment by email.


Test method and notes

Please read the following notes carefully: -

 

Live test:

· Please organize and bring a partner in order to conduct the examination.

· Please ensure that both the candidate and partner wear different color kimonos.

· Demonstrate the technique once the examination official reads the name of the same out.
· Perform each technique conforming to the Quick Review video demonstration.

· We will evaluate the procedure and form of the technique at the judging.

· It is OK to have a conversation with a partner during demonstration.

Please communicate with each other about the starting position and the reactions requested from the partner.

· For each technique please change the angle in order than an accurate assessment can be made.

· The time limit is 30 minutes.

· The score is reduced by 1 point per mistake and up to 3 points are subtracted per technique.

· The passing mark is 80 points or more out of 100 points.
*Taking test movie by yourself is free.

 

Video test:

· Please ensure that both the candidate and partner wear different color kimonos.

· Please perform the demonstration after the photographer or facilitator has read the technique name.
· Perform each technique conforming to the Quick Review video demonstration.

· We will evaluate the procedure and form of the technique at the judging.

· It is OK to have a conversation with a partner during demonstration.

· Please communicate with each other about the starting position and the reactions requested from the partner.

· Demonstrate each technique from two different angles.

· The time limit is 40 minutes, from an unedited video.

· The score is reduced by 1 point per mistake and up to 3 points are subtracted per technique.

· Passes 80 points or more out of 100 points.


Notice of results: -

Tri-force will sent the assessment rating (showing in a Google spreadsheet) by email within one week. For Tri-force members we will send the same result to the head instructor of their branch. Points of deduction will be specified on the spreadsheet. The assessed grade and result will be considered as final.
